THE UGLY DUCKLING

It is a beautiful summer. Mother Duck is waiting for her eggs to hatch.

She has five white eggs and egg number six is big and grey.

After a few days, she has five yellow ducklings and one a grey duckling.

Everybody is making fun of him. They always say "Ugly, ugly!" Nobody wants to play with him. Ugly Duckling is very sad.

On a beautiful morning, Mother Duck takes her ducklings down to the water.

After some time, they visit a farm and the other animals say: "See how ugly he is!" Even his

brothers and sisters reject him saying "You are too ugly."

Little Ugly Duckling can not understand everybody calling him ugly. He sees his shadow, and

says, "Oh, no, I am very ugly!"

He feels lonely, so he decides to leave the farm.

But the world is not good to him. People shout: “You are ugly". He gets very weak and tired.

One kind man gives him shelter, but his naughty boy throws stones at him.

Time passes, and winter comes. The lake is covered with ice. It is too cold. The Ugly Duckling is about to die.

But, then spring comes! It is nice! His wings are big and his body is large, now. He can fly!

He sees some beautiful white birds with big wings. He thinks, "I am ugly, they will not play with me.” But they move toward him and they start to play together.

Suddenly, he sees his shadow again: “Wow! I am not ugly anymore! I’m pretty!”

He is not an "ugly duckling", but a young swan. He is so happy! Now he has many friends and he can live happily ever after.
