O que você entende sobre “Encyclopedic entries”, ou verbetes enciclopédicos?
Verbete enciclopédico é um gênero textual de natureza expositiva, encontrado, como o nome já diz, em enciclopédias. Elas são organizadas em verbetes. Eles têm como objetivo apresentar definições e informações sobre um determinado assunto, utilizando linguagem objetiva e impessoal.
Quando você se deparar com um texto como um verbete enciclopédico, tente buscar
as palavras cognatas, ou seja, palavras que têm significados bem parecidos com os
termos em língua portuguesa.
ATIVIDADES:
1) Relembrando os seus conhecimentos na área de Ciências, tente reconhecer as
palavras cognatas e relacione os termos abaixo às suas definições:
(a) Air quality.
(b) Alternative energy sources.
(c) Biodiversity.
