Chicago attorney Dave Scriven-Young on leadership: As leaders, attorneys must decide that they want to grow inward as opposed to growing outward. As John Maxwell says in his book, Leadershift, when we grow outward, we are usually motivated by someone else who expects something from you. Or, you're trying to reach some external goal. But when you are growing inward, we have inward motivation. This is better because "growth on the inside fuels growth on the outside, not the other way around."
