A big challenge for law firm attorneys, especially those young attorneys first starting out, is that their work is typically driven by the billable hour. If a lawyer doesn’t have enough clients of his or her own to fill up the day--and to employ a few associates along the way--that lawyer’s lifestyle and career is up to whims of some other person. Learning to be that person--known as a rainmaker--has all the cards and can live the lifestyle that most people only dream of. Rainmakers typically have great skills in marketing, sales (particularly, closing) and leadership.
