LAWRENCE JENNINGS has been teaching music for over 24 years, he received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Jackson State University and his Masters of Science at Troy University. A native of Jackson, MS, he comes from a musical family, where he started playing professionally at the age of fourteen. In the eighties he served as a session drummer for Malaco Records, playing with the likes of Johnny Taylor, Dorthy Moore and ZZ Hill. He has taught at the elementary, middle, high school and college level. He is an active professional percussionist /drummer/clinician/adjudicator and speaker in the Atlanta music community. He is an avid jazz lover and listener. He has toured North America, Europe and the Caribbean playing with various artists. His credits include Sam Myers, Cassandra Wilson, Keisa Brown, the Drifters, Back Street Boys and Bobby Vinton. His orchestral credits include the Atlanta AfricanAmerican Philharmonic Orchestra, the Atlanta Orchestra and the Kingswood Orchestra. He is a member of jazz, blues societies and associations including International Association of Jazz Educators (IAJE) Percussive Arts Society (PAS) Music Educators National Conference (MENC) Georgia Music Educators Association (GMEA) and the National Educators Association.
