Description

All month long, we'll be immersed in some of the most rotten horror films we could get our hands on. For our first installment, we'll be taking a look back at one of the most influential and underrated cinematographers of his time, Ernest Dickerson. The man who helped cultivate the iconic Spike Lee look of the late 80s and early 90s turned to directing with his breakout 1992 hit "Juice," before turning his eye to more horror and action fare. Today we'll be looking at the 1990 underground Black vampire cult film "Def by Temptation" where he served as cinematographer to director James Bond III, as well as his 1995 Tales from the Crypt feature "Demon Knight" and the 2001 Blaxploitation throwback "Bones" featuring Snoop Dogg. A visionary filmmaker who was unfairly placed in director's jail after one minor studio misfire, Dickerson is a director whose work should be discussed more frequently - especially when it comes to horror and genre work of the 90s and early 2000s.

"Def by Temptation" is streaming on BET+. "Demon Knight" is available to rent on iTunes. "Bones" is available to stream with ads on Tubi.
