Welcome to this week’s episode of the Entrepreneur Evolution Podcast. For today’s tip, I want to talk to you about hiring. The process of hiring can be extremely exhausting if you do not have a strategic way to go about it. Often, as entrepreneurs the thought of hiring is so daunting that we put it off, and by the time we really need the hire it’s just way too late and we make a quick and or wrong decision. And if you are working with the wrong person, then you really can’t teach a dolphin to fly. Take some time before you go into the act of recruiting and looking at resumes, and follow this quick 3-step plan. Number 1, make the right job description. Often we fail at a hire because we get the job description wrong. Spend 2 weeks looking at what items are not getting done, what needs to get done, and what you or an existing team member is doing that needs to get let go of. Star which ones are revenue producing. Take the key words and form a specific and crafted job description. Number 2, have a step-by-step process of them going through the interview. What does it look like? And number 3, onboarding and training. If you want them to succeed in your organizations, you must have clear expectations and a process for succeeding to get them to the point of ownership and autonomy. This is often what I do with clients, I help clients through these processes to build the dream team around them.
