Being politically involved in some way is extremely important in an indirect democracy such as the United States. We vote elected leaders into office because we trust them to enact policies that will benefit our society in some way, whether that be for better roads/bridges, a stronger public education system, or nonrenewable resource taxing to increase ecologically sustainable practices.
