Edward Everett Hale wrote the short story "Man without a country", in 1947 Bing Crosby narrated a poetic adaptation of this story, which was recorded by the Paramount Pictures and presented in his patriotic Philco show of November 26, 1947 on the eve of Thanksgiving.
