In this SOUL SESH episode of the Social Soul Podcast, Hailey & Jess discuss their reaction to WNBA player Elena Delle Donne's open letter about battling Chronic Lyme Disease.
Elena's medical doctor wrote a letter to the WNBA that asked for Elena to opt out of the upcoming basketball season (during COVID-19) because she is immuno-compromised. The WNBA's medical team rejected the letter and said that her illness was not significant enough to be excused, basically stating that she can either play or leave without a paycheck. This prompted Elena to publicly write "An Open Letter About Her Health" for the very first time to share her struggle with the disease.
Jess, who battles this disease herself was triggered by this public statement and shares the similar struggles she has gone through to convince others that this illness is in fact real and scary for those who are suffering.
