Today, we have the honor of speaking with Raoul Audhoe, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under friend of the show, Priit Mihkelson, and a grappling coach with over 20 years of martial arts experience. Based in Amsterdam, Raoul’s martial arts journey began with Capoeira at the age of 15 and has since evolved to include a wide array of disciplines such as kickboxing, Sambo, Shooto, and of course, BJJ.
Raoul is not only a seasoned international competitor, having fought in tournaments across Europe and North America, but he’s also a dedicated coach and founder of TRIBE Grappling, his academy in Amsterdam. Known for his conceptual approach to teaching, Raoul emphasizes posture and overarching principles rather than relying on specific techniques, a method inspired by his mentor, Priit Mihkelson.
In addition to his academy, Raoul is the creator of Whoop Ass Camps, immersive martial arts retreats that bring together enthusiasts from around the globe.
In this episode, we dive into Raoul’s transition from MMA to grappling, his experiences competing internationally, his thoughts on conceptual Jiu-Jitsu, and how he’s building a thriving community of grapplers through his academies and camps.
