James Brandolino began his career as a securities broker in 1992 at Charles Schwab. By 1995, he advanced to operations manager at the onetime leading derivatives firm, MF Global. Brandolino then headed Lloyd Lewis Capital, an independent futures brokerage office, in 1999. By 2003, he was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade. And in 2011, Brandolino was incarcerated in federal prison for investment fraud.
While serving his sentence, he studied forensic accounting and fraud examination textbooks and analyzed hundreds of state and federal investment fraud cases. He interviewed dozens of other inmates in prison with similar financial crimes to study their tactics to defraud victims.
