Description

In 1863, a regiment of black soldiers steamed out of Boston Harbor for the front in South Carolina. The 54th Massachusetts would distinguish themselves at multiple battles--including the bloody assault of Fort Wagner--even though they didn't enjoy the full rights of citizenship or even full pay.
