Shownotes
- Listen to the Legend of King Mahabali from Season 1 for more on the King and the festival of Onam.
- You can look at the plaque that inspired the story - Plaque with a Royal Family here.
- For Vindhyavalli’s journey, I took inspiration from one of my favourite poems Sarojini Naidu’s Palanquin Bearers.
- Interesting Fact - While doing research for this story I found out that the distance between the Himalayas where Vindhyavalli is travelling from to Mavelikkara (where most Malayalis imagine Maveli ruled from) is around 2000 kms. Traveling 2,000 km would take approximately 50–70 days at 30–40 km per day, assuming favorable conditions.
