St. Luke 14:8
NIV: "When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited.
AMP: When you are invited by anyone to a marriage feast, do not recline on the chief seat [in the place of honor], lest a more distinguished person than you has been invited by him, [Prov. 25:6, 7.]
St. Luke 14:9
NIV: If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ’Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place.
AMP: And he who invited both of you will come to you and say, Let this man have the place [you have taken]. Then, with humiliation and a guilty sense of impropriety, you will begin to take the lowest place.
