Really identifying your emotions and how you're feeling and channeling into your body is paramount to you seeing where you're at, what you're experiencing and how it's affecting you.
When you ignore your feelings and box them up, try not to acknowledge them at all, it can do more harm than good and it leaves a lasting imprint and effect on your life, how you react/respond and you become numb to things. You close off and shutdown and that isn't good.
