The issues facing us due to the food industry’s overwhelming commitment to profit over the health of people has virtually contaminated our food chain.  At every step of the way, from fertilizer in the soil to pesticides added to the food to mono-cropping, the system is designed for one thing:  profit. 

The industry also has so much muscle in Washington, DC that it has re-defined the USDA legal definition of organic so that it’s not what we would call truly organic:  “Put simply, if you see the “USDA Organic” or “Certified Organic” seal on your food, the item must have an ingredients list and the contents should be 95% or more certified organic, meaning free of synthetic additives like pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and dyes, and must not be processed using industrial solvents, …Sep 10, 2012″
