What if you went into surgery and woke up in pain and paralyzed? What if you were a recovering addict and painkillers were available to you? Would you give yourself justifiable permission to use the drugs or would you suffer through the pain and allow that pain to become your power?
This was the choice our guest, Noemi Gonzalez had to make. In this episode we'll hear how she made that choice and how the paralysis has helped her discover her purpose and unleashed her personal power.
Noemi was born in Manhattan, NY and traveled to Puerto Rico with her mother and siblings before settling into Reading, PA. She is the mother of 4 amazing children ages ranging 5-14. In Oct of 2019 Noemi sustained an incomplete spinal cord injury resulting in quadriplegia.
Noemi is an ambassador for the Ms Wheelchair Pennsylvania Organization advocating for individuals within the disability community that face physical barriers into treatment facilities. She's also partnered with the Wheel with Me Foundation helping to further support the independence of wheelchair users by running the recovery branch.
Noemi shares her story intuitively and methodically problem solves relentlessly as she is a consultant and mediator working towards her degree in psychology. She aspires to become a psychologist, interventionist, and counselor one day to help others overcome their own adversities by applying a skilled combination of her own personal experiences and an excellent education.
Noemi's hobbies include arts and crafts with her kiddos, reading, writing poetry, watching beauty and exercise tutorials.
