Description

This week at The Film Club we’re talking about one of the most influential films of all time, 2001: A Space Odyssey! The film takes us on a trip from the prehistoric days where early hominins trying survive another group of hominins find an alien monolith. After this discovery the hominins miraculously learn how to use bones for weapons and are able to defend themselves against the other group. Millions of years later the monolith returns this time buried in a crater on the moon leading modern day scientists to study this “new” discovery. Eighteen months after the recent discovery of the monolith a Spacecraft named Discovery One is bound for Jupiter. Discovery One’s occupants are scientists Dr Dave Bowman and Dr Frank Poole as well as super computer HAL 9000. This journey to Jupiter gets deadly ultimately leading one of our pilots to come face to face with the monolith. Join us and friend of the podcast Thomas as we dive into the world of 2001: A Space Odyssey.
