This week at The Film Club we’re concluding our Stanley Kubrick Month with his final film, Eyes Wide Shut. The film follows Dr. Bill Hartford and his wife Alice who are currently on their way to a Christmas party being thrown by one of Bill’s wealthy patients. At the party Bill is mingling and begins a conversation with two attractive models, Alice sees her husband and immediately gets jealous. In an attempt to quell her feelings Alice begins to drink, this gains the attention of an older man who has his sites out for Alice. In the hopes of getting her husband’s attention Alice decides to dance with the older man but notices her husband is nowhere to be seen. Bill reunites with a former classmate now turned musician and while his former classmate is pulled away Bill is rushed upstairs to help his patient who is in a predicament. The patient has hooked up with a hooker who overdoses in his bathroom and to avoid scandal he asks Bill to help her which begins a series of events that will lead Bill into a world he didn’t know existed.
