This week at The Film Club we’re kicking off the month of October by going back to the 90s and talking about 90s Horror! This week we’re talking about the slasher trend with, I Know What You Did Last Summer. The film follows four friends who have just graduated high school and are ready to finish their last summer together before heading off onto their new lives. After celebrating the Fourth of July the friends find themselves on a beach talking about their future, Barry is extremely intoxicated by the end of this conversation and when everyone is ready to leave he refuses to let anyone drive his car. Barry’s girlfriend Helen with help from her best friend Julie finally convince him to let their friend Ray drive but the drive isn’t an easy one when Barry begins to obnoxiously dance through the sunroof of the car and then drops a bottle of alcohol all over Ray as he’s driving. This bottle of alcohol distracts Ray just long enough that he doesn’t see a pedestrian in the road and accidentally hits the person with the car. Up on a secluded hilltop over looking the ocean the friends survey the damage and the dead body lying in the road and must decide whether to call for help or get rid of the body.
