With determination to promote self-pride and love, St Croix's own Nikki Brooks has decided to launch her mistaken and proud to be campaign. With her hit single "Mistaken", she explains how she is often confused to be from other Caribbean countries, when she proudly represents the Virgin Islands. Brooks talks about showing gratitude to her homeland as well as being an advocate for curvaceous women. Her stance is to help people not care to fit in but to be proud of who they are, where they come from and what they stand for. With her pure talent and high energy performances, Nikki Brooks is avowed the infamous female voice, belting vocals for big bands throughout the Caribbean industry. She has received astounding support from her ever expanding fan-base securing her favor as an international cultural ambassador. Nikki has provided vocals for top bands including St. Thomas’ Imagination Brass, St. Croix’s Vio International Band and the legendary DC based Image Band. She holds the honorable distinction of being crowned the first ever female Calypso Monarch capturing that title in her homeland of St. Croix. In April 2016 she released her first solo debut album titled “Know Me Now”. The project’s first single “Play Me Like Pan”, topped Tempo network’s Cross Caribbean Countdown for 12 consecutive weeks at the number #2 position before hitting #1. Her second single “Know Me Now” is still currently in heavy rotation on major radio stations throughout the Caribbean and Europe. Nikki headlined at NYC’s legendary BB Kings for Tempo Networks’ Tempo Turns 10 Caribbean Rocks NYC Awards where she performed among Soca Legend Mighty Sparrow, Romain Virgo, R. City, some of the Caribbean’s biggest names. She performed at Tortola’s Carnival festivities, headlined at Brooklyn NY's West Indian Labor Day Parade, performed at the Virgin Islands’ Annual Cultural Fest at Jackie Robinson Park in Harlem and the Brass Fest at the Brooklyn Museum. Nikki’s Brooks new album "Free" and unveiling of her sizzling hot “Mistaken” is what critics say, is a breath of fresh air in Caribbean music and what makes Nikki Brooks a Cultural Icon.
