In this episode, I interview Ali Duff, a 3rd grade teacher and an innovative educator. Ali came to teaching later in her career. After getting masters degrees in psychology and social work, Ali worked for 12 years dealing with elder abuse, day treatment, crisis work and counseling. But after starting a family and facing a health crisis, Ali decided to become a teacher. She enrolled in the alternative road to licensure program in Utah, which allowed her to begin teaching immediately, while taking classes at night and on weekends to earn her credential. We'll talk about her winding career path, how she uses her background in psychology and social work in the classroom, how Covid changed education and how parents can support their students and teachers this coming year.
