Martha Ball spent 26 years teaching history, civics and social studies in Utah and California. In this episode, Martha shares many standout experiences that influenced her career, including teaching a group of black men during the 1960’s in the CA Bay area when the Black Panthers were active. Martha talks about the lessons she learned from them and the importance of including history and civics in current curriculum. When Martha received a Hays Fulbright Award to study in India, she was able to meet with Mother Theresa, which led to an amazing personal experience three weeks before she died. Martha shares these experiences and many insights about teaching, and two books everyone should read.
