Hi Grace! This week we’re continuing what is known as the “Farewell Discourse” where Jesus gives his parting words to his closest followers, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” This is the 7th “I Am” statement, spoken just a few hours before his death.
Jesus' words in this final statement simultaneously comfort and convict. He is the vine and we are the branches. This implies, we need pruning, we need union to stay fruitful, and without Christ we can do nothing.
