Growing up in Sierra Leone, Aminata was taken by rebels and used as a human shield and sexual slave as a teenage girl. After being set free as a result of a child prisoner exchange, Aminata found herself seeking refuge in Australia. Today Aminata is a wife, mother, author, speaker, humanitarian, activist, UNHR special representative and CEO of the Aminata Maternal Foundation.
