In 1993... 31 Years ago today "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. The City of Brockton is honoring this event with the opening of the "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler Park & unveiling the life-size statue of Marvin himself!
"On the 31st Anniversary of Marvelous Marvin Hagler's Induction into the 1993 International Boxing Hall of Fame, the City of Brockton is proud to announce the unveiling of the Marvelous Marvin Hagler Statue proudly located within the new Marvelous Marvin Hagler Park. The life-size bronze statue depicts Marvelous Marvin in an action stance familiar to all of his fans during his seven-year reign as the undisputed middleweight boxing champion of the world. Sculpted by a nationally renowned sculpture company Brodin Studios in Kimball, Minnesota, the statue will be located in a parklet adjacent to the former site of Petronelli’s Gym where Marvelous trained. This testament to a true home-town sports and community icon will be a permanent monument to one of the greatest champions from our “City of Champions.” - City of Brockton Event Page
