John 16:8-11—
When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. (NIV)
This verse covers three interesting dynamics concerning the power of the Spirit to bring conviction to the earth. First, the Spirit brings conviction of sin. Second, He brings conviction of righteousness. Third, He brings conviction of judgment. We see that the work of the Spirit is mature when we are convicted in all three of the these areas. Let's take a closer look at these three dynamics.
