Description

Strange sights, smells, and flavors are around every corner in the heart of Koreatown. Join Korean immigrant, Carol Cho, and her son, Alec, on a walk through Carol's neighborhood. Get the insider's scoop to navigating Korean grocery stores, Hear what the streets were like at the peak of the 1992 LA riots, and discover where you can experience the night life of Seoul without needing your passport.

Tips & Hours

• This tour is an easy walk with no steep inclines or stairs required.
• Bring sunscreen and water if it’s a hot day.
• This Detour is best between 3:30pm and 11:30pm when most of the businesses along the route are open.
• This tour ends at Dan Sung Sa, a great place to stop for drinks or a snack. Dan Sung Sa is open everyday from 4pm to 2am.
• Sixtern Kim’s Mart is open from 8am- 8:30pm Monday through Friday and 8:30am- 8:00pm Saturday and Sunday. They are closed the second Sunday of every month.
• Zion Market is open 8am to 12 am everyday.
• Madang Plaza and Zion Market have public restrooms available. These are also good places to pick up a snack or bottled drink.
• You will have the opportunity to make a small purchase at one of our stops. They only take cash so be sure to bring a few dollars or your ATM card!
• This Detour features a stop at a wishing well so bring a coin to make a wish.
