Jeffrey Lo is a Filipino-American playwright and director based in the Bay Area. He is a recipient of the Leigh Weimers Emerging Artist Award, Theatre Bay Area Director's TITAN Award, and was named Emerging Artist Laureate by Arts Council Silicon Valley (Now SVCREATES). He is currently the Director of Community Partnerships and Casting Director for TheatreWorks Silicon Valley.
And, though, he stumbled into the theatrical arts in his school by the bidding of his then-girlfriend. He's come to say, "Because I found theater because I found storytelling because I found the arts, I was motivated. I was motivated to do something to create."
In our conversation, we talked about Jeffrey's growth and process as a playwright and director, how this Filipino heritage informs his storytelling as well as his goals and motivation as a playwright: the stories he wants to tell.
