The 1986 John Landis directed film Three Amigos is an interesting one. On one hand, the simple sitcom-esque style leads to a story and structure that never breaks quite the new ground needed to herald the film as a true classic. On the other hand, many of the jokes are so good it should be considered a real absolute classic. The comedy trifecta of Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase shouldn't be understated. Written by Steve Martin, Lorne Michaels and (believe it or not) Randy Newman, today we look into this film that was such a pivotal part of our childhoods.
