The season of Advent is an invitation--an opportunity to slow down and take notice, to take in the wonder and miracle of Jesus' coming, a season to reflect on the character of the One who came.

There are so many passages in Scripture that speak to this characteristic, but Romans 6:1-14 uses the symbol of baptism to show how we die to our old self and are raised to new life in Christ Jesus. Death and sin no longer have dominion over us, and we walk in newness of life in Him. Jesus didn't come to make the bad good; He came to make the dead alive. He came that we might have life and have it abundantly.
