Jesus has just claimed that He is the Light of the World and that whoever believes in Him will never walk in darkness. Then in John 9, He does a miracle that literally shows what He does for us: how He makes the blind to see, not just physically, but spiritually as well.
John continues to point to Jesus as Messiah and that He is fully God. This chapter is rich with symbolism! While the religious leaders continue to question, ignoring truth, we see this man, who walked in literal darkness, go from blind to seeing. Not only does he behold light, but He beholds the True Light.
