Today we will hear from Alex Merlino, speech language pathologist from Penn Therapy and Fitness in University City. As a certified brain injury specialist, she discusses the neurological based speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing disorders that brain injury survivors experience. Alex will also suggest compensatory strategies and restorative exercises that we can practice to help with cognitive challenges.
Alex Merlino is a speech language pathologist at Penn Therapy & Fitness, University City. She received her masters of science in speech-language pathology at Massachusetts General Hospital - Institute of Health Professions. Alex is a certified brain injury specialist and has been working with individuals with brain injuries in both the inpatient and outpatient setting for the past 7 years. She primarily works with patients to help improve their cognition and communication which are often impacted after a traumatic brain injury.
