Listeners, what a gift it is to share with you, my friend, Tawana Shaw. Tawana is a true QUEEN and beautiful soul that exudes warmth, light and an incredible love for family. She is a wife, a mother to four; two adult daughters, two sons about to graduate high school, a new “Lovie” to her grandson Cooper, a first time Auntie to her nephew Ashton, as well as being the Chief Operations Officer at Nelson & Associates. Tawana shares her story of being a young mother, while finishing her college degree, and the unexpected way she began working in the multifamily apartment industry. She shares how the management company where she currently holds her role as COO, was started by her mother in 1987, and has morphed into a family business. And, brings light to the fact that it wasn’t just starting a business in the late 80’s, this was her mother, an African American female, starting a business and negotiating for herself and a company in 1987….strong mama! Tawana brings us into her incredible family dynamic that includes her husband Alan (they just celebrated 20 years of marriage), ex-husband, Charles, who is one of her best friends, her children, her friends that are family and so much more.
