Mike Alverza is a thought leader and the Young Adults Pastor at Calvary Church in Naperville, IL. According to Dr. Ray Oldenburg (of the University of West Florida in Pensacola), there are three places where we go: work, home, and the third place is where you get your identity. It’s where you find your belonging, and develop relationships and friendships. In the early 1900s, most lived in a city, and all three places were found within a 2 block radius. Post-WWII the building of suburbs boomed and people moved which caused them to lose this third place.
