Today, Sunday September 20 - Bumps In the Road! We have all hit them from time to time. And for sure, we all have had those occasions where we have hit them in the course of our lives! In Acts 13 we read the story of a young man by the name of John Mark who hit a big bump in the road of his life. He accompanied the Apostle Paul and Barnabas on their first missionary journey but only lasted a short distance before he got homesick and he left them and went back to Jerusalem. This lack of courage or endurance didn't set well Paul, and on the next journey, he refused to take Mark with them. Can you imagine how this might have felt to Mark. But his cousin Barnabas, took him under his wing and continued to invest in him and later Paul would write in 1 Timothy 4:11, that Mark was useful to him for the ministry. Mark started well, had a bump in the road, but finished well. God would also later use him to write the Gospel of Mark, the second book in the New Testament. So today, be encouraged if you have hit a bump in the road. God still has a wonderful plan and future for you! God bless!
