Today, Wednesday November 11 - James 1:19-21 - I'm convinced it is one thing to "hear" the Word of God and quite another to "receive" the Word of God. Jesus said, "Take heed how you hear." James tells us that we are receive the Word with meekness. That means we hear, we listen, we receive with a heart that is submissive to the truth that it reveals and that it applies to our present situation and life. We receive the Word in such a way that it becomes "implanted" into our life. We can't think a thought, or perform an action without the Word of God influencing it. Right alongside of this, at the same time, we will continually be "putting away" those weeds in our lives that shouldn't be there. James calls this "filthiness and rampant wickedness". And then, we will truly be living a clean life that is pleasing to the Lord and influencing others to believe and trust in Him too! Remember the "Great Commandment." Deuteronomy 6:4-7 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." God bless!
