Today, Tuesday November 10 - James 1:19-21- In this passage of Scripture, James tells us that the first step in avoiding being deceived by ourselves is to "receive with meekness the implanted or ingrafted Word which is able to save our soul." But before he writes that, he says we should be swift or quick to hear, to listen, and slow to speak. Too often we have been talking when we should have been listening. Just ask my wife, she will tell you that I'm guilty of this all the time. Someone said, God gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason! And often, when we are listening, we are listening and hearing the wrong things. "Garbage in, garbage out." It's vitally important as to what we allow to enter into our minds and hearts. Isn't it interesting that the next thing that James mentions is "slow to anger." If we are not listening right we will have a life full of anger, bitterness and resentment. Today, by God's grace determine to overcome self-deception by taking time to be in God's Word. God bless!
