Today, Wednesday November 25 - James 3:2-5 - Verse 5 says, "So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boast of great things." The tongue is little and hidden inside our mouth, but what tremendous power and influence it has. That's the point James is making here. Have you ever heard someone say, "Oh, I'm sorry I said that, I take it back." But the truth is, once you said it, it is impossible to take it back! Once you write it on social media and press send, you can never take it back. You can apologize and ask forgiveness, which you should, but the damage is already done and it might take months and years to restore. We can say the wrong thing, in the wrong way and at the wrong time. We can say the right thing, in the wrong way, at the wrong time. We can say the right thing, in the right way, at the wrong time. Any of the above can prove disastrous and I'm sure I'm guilty of doing all three! But by the grace of God, we need to learn to say the right thing, the right way and at the right time! "A man has joy by the answer of his mouth, And a word spoken in due season, how good it is." (Proverbs 15:23) "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." (Proverbs 25:11) May the Lord help us to use our tongues wisely today! God bless!
