Today, Monday November 30 - James 4:1-3 War is a fact of life, in spite of treaties, world peace organizations, and the threat of atomic bombs. Not only are wars between nations, but there are wars of one kind or another in almost every level of life. Throughout the Book of James we see that James is touching on several areas of conflict and strife in our lives. He starts by asking us to answer the question, "What causes fights and quarrels among you?" This is especially addressed to Christians and the church! Conflict in the church is not new. Even when you examine some of the early churches, you discover that they had their share of disagreements. As you study this book, you will notice James mentions several kinds of disagreements among the saints. Class wars (2:1-9); Employment wars (5:1-6); Church fights (1:19-20; 3:13-18); 4:1); Personal wars (4:11-12) and War with Ourselves (4:1b-3). For sure, everyday as believers, we will battle the three enemies of the flesh (4:1-3), the world (4:4-5), and the devil (4:6-7). James gives us truth and wisdom from above so that we might successfully fight these battles! Today would be a good time to begin to follow his "war plan." God bless!
