Description

Today, Monday November 9 - James 1:19-27 - James is encouraging his readers to live like "grown-up" believers rather than to be like spiritually immature children in their daily walk.  In this passage, that we will be looking at for the next few days, James is warning against self-deception.  The Bible teaches us that the devil is a deceiver. He deceived Eve in the Garden of Eden to think that if she ate the fruit that God had forbidden, she would be like god herself.  There are people in our lives who have deceived us!  They promised us something, with no intention of giving it, just to get us to do or give them something.  Both of the these deceptions are painful when you realize you have been tricked or deceived.  But there is a worse deception, and that is when you have deceived yourself.  You might think you are saved and on your way to heaven when in reality you are not!  You might have fooled yourself into thinking, as a believer that you are spiritually mature, and you are not.  Spiritual maturity and reality results from a proper relationship to God through His Word. God's Word is Truth (John 17:17).  Today, let's look into God's Word and make sure we are not being deceived by ourselves!  God bless!
