Today, Thursday August 13 - Jehovah-Nissi, The LORD is our Banner! The Old Testament stories were recorded to teach us how to deal with different aspects of our Christian experience. Romans 15:4 "For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope." In Exodus 17, where we meet God as Jehovah-Nissi, the people of Israel had just began their wilderness journey and they were attacked by Amelek. How did they deal with this enemy, that represents to us the temptations of the flesh? We will be talking about this the next several days. Dealing with the temptations of the flesh and life is one of the greatest challenges in our daily walk as followers of Jesus Christ. The very first verse I memorized as a brand new believer in 1971 was 1 Corinthians 10:13 "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Jehovah-Nissi is God's answer to our victory over temptations! God bless!
