Today, Wednesday August 12 - Jehovah-Nissi, The LORD is our Banner! We meet God by this name in Exodus 17:8-16. Israel is on their wilderness journey to the Promise Land and they are attack by Amelek. Amelek represents the world, the flesh and the devil attacking us as believers to keep us from enjoying victory in the Christian life. Remember 1 John 2:15-17 "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever." When we meet God and experience Him by His name, Jehovah-Nissi, we learn the scriptural principles and truths that will enable us to have victory over those "bully" sins that so easily beset us and make us miserable followers of Jesus!
