Today, Friday August 7 – Jehovah-Rapha – The LORD Who Heals. Peter asked Jesus how many times in a day he had to forgive someone who offended him. Peter then suggested seven times, which he must have thought was quite generous. Jesus’ answer must have shocked him and the other disciples! Jesus said that he should forgive the offender seven times seventy, which would be 490 times in a day. Does this mean that the offender commits the same offence 490 times in a day? I don’t think so. I believe it means every time you remember the offence and relive the pain of it, you must, in your heart forgive them as Christ has forgiven you. This is like putting the right medicine on a wound on a daily and regular basis and over time, the wound will heal leaving only a scar as a reminder of the experience. Jehovah-Rapha heals us as we receive and apply the grace of God to the emotional pain. May the Lord help us to do this today! God bless!
