Today, Friday August 28, Jehovah-Rohi, The LORD is Our Shepherd! Probably the most beloved and most read and quoted chapter in the Bible is Psalm 23. It is often called the Shepherd's Psalm. Over the years, I've read this beautiful and comforting Psalm at hundreds of funerals. King David probably wrote this Psalm in his latter years after a lifetime of experiences where he found that Jehovah was indeed his Shepherd. David started his career as a shepherd himself and he knew all about sheep and their needs. The Bible often refers to us as sheep who have gone astray and have lost our way. Jesus saw the people of His day this way: Matthew 9:36 "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd." Jesus is the complete fulfillment of Jehovah-Rohi! You can make Him both your Savior and Shepherd today! God bless!
