Description

Today, Saturday October 31 - The New Testament book of James teaches us how to live an authentic Christian life.  The religious world is full of hypocrites.  We say we believe one thing but live out our lives another way.  James deals with this over and over throughout his letter to the believers who have been scattered over the world through persecution for their professed faith.  Yesterday, James reminded us that a double-souled person is unstable and will falter under pressure in the time of crisis because he can't expect God to answer his prayers.  Today James touches on one of the things that causes us to live a hypocritical life.  And that is the pursuit of riches or money.  We get our eyes and hearts set on having things that we think will "make our lives better", but in reality will make our lives miserable.  Materialism is a great temptation for all of us!  There's nothing wrong with having riches or things as long as they don't have us!  We need to remember that one day, a persons riches will fade away like the beautiful flowers and grass of the fields.  Ask yourself today, "What am I really living for?"  And then correct some things and reconnect to God's real purpose for your life!  God bless!
