Today, Wednesday October 14 - A friend had a friend, who had a friend, who had, what the first friend needed! This is a amazing story that Jesus told in Luke 11 when He was teaching His disciples how to pray! What was the need of the first friend? He came at midnight and knocked on his friend's door and asked for bread. I believe this friend represents the friends in our life that are really hungry for the "Bread of Life." It's midnight! It's usually at a dark and dismal time in our lives that we begin to recognize our greatest need! So his friend goes to another friend who is in bed sleeping and ask him for three loaves of bread for his needy friend. But the sleeping friend refuses to get up and give him some bread just because he is his friend. But the second friend is desperate to get the bread for his hungry friend, so he keeps knocking until the friend with bread finally gets up and gives him the bread for his friend. Jesus is the friend, who seems to be sleeping, who has the bread, and He is teaching His disciples about the persistence of prayer. We should keep asking even when it seems God isn't answering our prayer. And this especially applies to praying for our family and fiends who need the "Bread of Life", Jesus! Jesus said, "Keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking and it will be given to you!" God bless!
