Today, Friday October 2 - The Reward of Discipline is Freedom! Tom Landry, the great Dallas Cowboys football coach said, "The job of a football coach is to make men do what they don't want to do in order to achieve what they always wanted to be." In much the same way, Christians are called to make themselves, by the Spirit's power, do what they would not naturally do - practice the Spiritual Disciplines, in order to experience what the Spirit gives them a desire to be, that is, to be with Christ and like Christ. Someone else observed that most Christians are a "mile wide and about an inch deep." We have been Christianized on the outside and "look good", but we have no depth to our faith and the smallest temptation or trial can knock us off our "spiritual feet". How are you doing with the two most basic Spiritual disciplines of Bible intake and prayer? Have you disciplined yourself to regularly get up daily and read your Bible systematically and consistently? To take time for daily communion with God in prayer? If not, why not start today!!!!! My prayer is, that today, as the first day of the rest of your life, you will begin that journey of experiencing true freedom in your life! God bless!!!!!
