Today, November 3 - James 1:13-15 tells us not to blame God or others for our failures in dealing with temptations. The Apostle John tells us that we are tempted in three areas: "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever." (1 John 2:15-17) We seek to satisfy the flesh, to bring pleasure to it. We want it and we want it now. We think this will bring satisfaction or happiness into our lives. Our eyes are the gate to our souls and as we look upon the thing we desire, the temptation grows greater. Then we think that we are smarter than God and others, or we just ignore the warnings and instructions of God's Word. This is called the pride of life. These are the same three areas Satan tempted Eve with in the Garden of Eden and that he tempted Jesus with in the wilderness. The Apostle Paul instructs us, "Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill or gratify the lust, or the desires of the flesh." (Galatians 5:16). May the Lord help us today to be obedient to His Truth. God bless!
